GLEN SPEY, NY — In 2018, children at George Ross Mackenzie Elementary in Glen Spey participated in the Dime in a Bottle Challenge. The children raised $500 for the American Legion Ambulance in Eldred.
During the 2024-25 school year, this challenge was revisited. Samantha Majuri’s third graders raised over $223, followed by Zita Kurtzman’s pre-K with $180.75 and Faith Morsch’s first grade with $164.58.
All together, the pre-K-through-sixth-grade building raised $800.
The recipient of this year’s project is the Lumberland Fire Department. President Ann Steimle and fire chief Eric Robles visited the third graders to accept the check and take time to chat with the children.
