MILFORD, PA — In a world where disagreement often leads to division, one local educational organization is charting a different path. Ascend Academy Milford is redefining education by focusing on character, courage, and critical thinking—teaching children to think for themselves rather than memorize facts, learn how to perform on standardized tests, or be molded into someone else’s idea of success.
At Ascend Academy, learning looks different. Classrooms are called studios, and learners are encouraged to question, discuss, and collaborate through Socratic discussion—an approach that emphasizes respectful civil discourse and independent thought.
“We’re raising leaders who listen, think, and stand strong,” said Meagan Campion, a parent as well as Ascend’s Director of Operations. “Our learners don’t just memorize facts—they learn how to reason, problem-solve, and communicate with respect, even when they disagree.”
As part of the Apogee Strong Schools network, Ascend Academy integrates leadership training, health and wellness, and timeless moral principles into its curriculum. Families play an active role in both their child’s growth and the life of the school, making education a shared journey that extends far beyond academics.
“Education is personal—and there are as many ways to learn as there are people,” said Ascend’s founder, Alyssa Verdi. “Some methods stand the test of time, while others need to be updated or, frankly, tossed out the window. Education should be a journey for the entire family, and parents play a major role in what we do here at Ascend. As the old saying goes, ‘It takes a village.’”
The educational organization serves learners ages 4–14+ and offers both full- and part-time options. Part-time enrollment is ideal for homeschooling families seeking a structured environment that aligns with their values—where their child’s academics and character development can be supported.
Ascend Academy will host an Open House on Thursday, November 6th from 4:00–6:00 PM, inviting families to tour the studios, meet guides, and discover a community dedicated to cultivating both intellect and integrity. A few openings remain for the 2025–2026 school year, and short-term trials are available for interested families.
