Dorothy R. Ropke of Narrowsburg, NY died June 30, 2013 at Bethany Village Care Center, Honesdale, PA. She was 84.

She was born on April 3, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ to George and Johanna Helms Schorck.

She was married to the late Herman Ropke.

Dorothy was a retired manager at Kelly’s Adult Home in Narrowsburg. She also was a manager at Lander’s Minisink Campground. She also worked as a switchboard operator at one time. She was also a former member of the Town of Tusten Town Board.

Dorothy was very active in her community. She was a hospice volunteer, a member of the Tusten Ambulance Corps, a Red Cross volunteer, a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Tusten Historical Society.

She is survived by three daughters, Dianne Robertson of Bloomington, IN; Nancy Rome and her husband Dennis of Prarieville, LA; and Carol Ropke Wingert of Narrowsburg; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Herman, she was also predeceased by her son Kenneth Ropke.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 8 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg at 11 a.m. Pastor Phyllis Haines will officiate.

Burial of Dorothy’s cremains will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Tusten Ambulence Corps, or the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
