Edward R. Helfers, a longtime Hankins, NY resident, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Wayne Woodland Manor in Waymart, PA. He was 78.

Son of the late Edward Henry and Dorothy Charlotte Wilson Helfers, he was born in Queens, NY on November 17, 1932. Mr. Helfers was a retired supervisor for Nassau County Department of Public Works. He was the widower of Winifred Crowley Helfers.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 14 at 10 a.m. in the Church of The Advent, 555 Advent Street, Westbury, NY. Interment will follow at the Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
