SKINNERS FALLS, NY and MILANVILLE, PA — A judge with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has 14 days from Friday, April 11 to decide on a work injunction for the Skinners Falls Bridge, according to Damascus Citizens for Sustainability (DCS) Executive Director Barbara Arrindell.

DCS, a local non-profit that has taken the lead in advocating for the survival of the Skinners Falls Bridge and Milanville resident Cynthia Nash filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on Monday, April 7.  DCS and Nash sought an injunction preventing the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) from continuing its work to demolish the Skinners Falls Bridge; click here for more.

The judge in the case put in place a temporary restraining order, preventing PennDOT from continuing work while the case played out, after a conference call on Wednesday, April 9.

The parties reconvened for a hearing on Friday, April 11, with Arrindell telling the River Reporter that the hearing lasted about six hours with minimal breaks.

Arrindell said the parties left on Friday without an immediate decision being made on the injunction, and that the judge has 14 days to come to that decision. It could not immediately be determined whether that was 14 business days or 14 calendar days.
