Woodridge police arrest man for disruption of religious services, other charges

WOODRIDGE, NY — On August 7, 2026, Woodridge Police arrested Benjamin E. Salvey on an  arrest warrant issued by the Woodridge Court.

It is alleged that on July 31, 2026, Salvey entered the Congregation of Khal Yereim Synagogue located on Highland Avenue, Woodridge, and interfered with religious
services, making threats and interfering with the congregation. Salvey was charged with:

  • Burglary in the Third Degree - Felony
  • Disruption or Disturbance of a Religious Service, Funeral, Burial or Memorial Service - Misdemeanor
  • Criminal Interference with Health Care Services or Religious Worship in the Second Degree - Misdemeanor
  • Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree - Misdemeanor

Salvey was arraigned at the Woodridge Court, in front of Judge Bart Rasnick, and released on his own recognizance, pending a August 12, 2026 6:00PM copurt appearance.
