In one sense, gratitude is simple: Be thankful.
Say "thank you" to everything, or most things, that come your way.
Somehow that seems hard to do.
Ironically, it's really easy to feel resentful. It doesn't take much to get the ire up, to feel the sense of entitlement that somehow the situation ought to be different than it is.
And so I'm wondering, what would we need to do to say "thank you" to the situation wholeheartedly?
We might do well to consider the technique of improv that works from the foundation of "Yes" and "And."
A line is thrown, and you pick it up with a "Yes," "And" then continue with the story
Adding on. Improvising.
It would be great if we could have that same relationship with gratitude.
Always wrapping it around us.,
Always feeding every corner of our lives.
