UNIVERSITY PARK, PA — Becca Weir has joined Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences as an assistant professor of agricultural economics in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology and Education.

Weir’s research and extension programs focus on farm management, agricultural finance and agricultural policy. Her work will contribute to programs offered by several Penn State Extension units, including the dairy and livestock teams.

“Farms are businesses, and finding strategies to be financially successful is increasingly important with the volatility in markets,” she said.

Weir obtained her doctorate in applied economics from the University of Minnesota in August 2025 and joined Penn State in September.
