Weekly walks in the Tannersville Bog

Posted

STROUDSBURG, PA — On Wednesdays beginning September 16 and running through November 4, the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center will be offering weekly walks through the Tannersville Bog at 1 p.m.

These two-hour walks will be guided by an environmental educator from the center, who will teach attendees about the bog—a unique boreal bog in this area, and owned by the Nature Conservancy. Learn about its formation and interesting plant and animal life.

Note that there will be a weekly walk on Tuesday, October 27, not Wednesday, October 28.

Participants will meet at the bog parking lot by 1 p.m.

The tour begins at 552 Cherry Lane Road in East Stroudsburg.

The cost is $6 per person. Pre-registration and payment are required in advance. Registration opens at the start of the month prior to each program.

Register and pay at www.mcconservation.org. Attendees should bring appropriate footwear for walking in the woods and through fields.

Call 570/629-3061 with any questions.

Kettle Creek Environmental is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and some Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. More information on other programs offered by the conservation district is available at www.mcconservation.org.
