HONESDALE, PA — Wayne Memorial Hospital’s laboratory has been awarded a two-year re-accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The lab processes hundreds of thousands of tests annually and re-accreditation means that it has continually met the rigorous standards of the CAP.
“Our laboratory team provides exceptional service on a daily basis. Each and every one, our clinical leaders and our newer techs, has earned this recognition,” laboratory manager John Romano said. Pathologist and laboratory director Sibyl Rickard, M.D. and the lab staff at WMH and its satellite offices are involved in over 80 percent of the diagnoses hospital physicians make.
During the onsite CAP accreditation process, inspectors examined the lab’s records and quality control of procedures. Additionally, laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record and overall management is examined.
