HONESDALE, PA — Jim Donnelly, president/CEO of Wayne Bank, announced that Wayne Bank has donated $5,000 in support of the Waymart Borough and its development of Wayside Park.
Jane Varcoe, president of the Waymart Borough, accepted a check from Dr. Kenneth (Ken) Phillips, board director at Wayne Bank, and Craig Grimm, Waymart office manager at Wayne Bank.
“At Wayne Bank, we believe strong communities are built through partnerships and investments that make a lasting impact,” said Donnelly. “Wayside Park is an important gathering place for the residents of Waymart, and we’re proud to support the Borough’s vision of creating a space where families, children and neighbors can come together for generations to come.”
Wayside Park, at the corner of Route 296 (Belmont Street) and South Street in Waymart, was the original site of Waymart High School, which stood for over 100 years. The school district donated the property to the Waymart Borough, which the borough has spent years updating with a memorial to Veterans, a flagpole and amenities for children. The borough’s goal for this project is to expand the park, providing equipment and toys for all ages.
With the help of donors like Wayne Bank, local donations, and a grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the borough said it plans to complete this phase in the development of Wayside Park this spring.
Wayne Bank stock trades on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol – NWFL.
