SOUTH FALLSBURG - On December 10, 2024, the Fallsburg Police Department received a report that a vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of Boosur Meat and Deli in South Fallsburg. Surveillance footage of the incident was provided and police were able to obtain a description of the alleged suspect.
While investigating the matter, a Fallsburg patrol unit observed the reported vehicle being operated on State Route 42 in South Fallsburg, and a vehicle stop was made. The operator was identified as Edgar Perez and he was taken into police custody.
The suspect, who was observed taking the vehicle in the surveillance footage, known to police as Milton Romero, was located in the back of the vehicle and he was also taken into police custody. Following a police investigation, Edgar Perez was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a felony, and Milton Romero was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony.
In accordance with bail reform laws, both individuals were released on an appearance ticket and are set to appear in the Town of Fallsburg Justice Court at a later date.
Criminal charges are merely allegations that a defendant has committed violations of the criminal law, and as such they are not evidence of guilt. All defendants have a presumption of innocence and are entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the burden of the State of New York to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
