MONTICELLO, NY — On Tuesday September 15, deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Gang and Narcotics Intelligence Unit arrested Barry J. Bowser, 37, as a result of a search warrant executed at his residence which is located at 591 West Broadway in the Village of Monticello.

Bowser, who is on probation for a previous drug offense, was on his way to attend the Sullivan County Court Drug Program when he was intercepted by sheriff’s detectives at the court house. Deputies recovered approximately 35 grams of heroin/fentanyl, crack/cocaine, digital scales and packaging material.

“Mr. Bowser side stepped a possible 12 year sentence on the last go-around”, said Sheriff Mike Schiff. “I would say that deal is now off the table along with the new charges”.

The defendant was charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell and Misdemeanor Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was also charged with Animal Cruelty for an emaciated dog found inside the residence.

Bowser was arraigned before Fallsburg Town Justice Jamie Kaminski and, due to his 3 prior felony convictions, was sent to the Sullivan County Jail with no bail.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this 3 month investigation by Sullivan County District Attorney’s investigators, Homeland Security Investigations and the Village of Monticello Police, The warrant was prepared by assistant district attorney Michael Schulte and executed by the sheriff’s emergency services and K-9 units.
