Two Monticello men injured in Fourth of July disturbance

MONTICELLO, NY — At 10:50 p.m. on Saturday July 4, Village of Monticello Police responded to a reported disturbance at the Monticello Housing Authority Complex located on Evergreen Drive.

Officers observed a crowd of 150-200 persons in the area and subsequently located a 32 year-old male with a severe laceration to the head. With assistance from the Sullivan County Sheriff Office and New York State Police, the crowd was dispersed.

Monticello Police were additionally notified that a 51 year-old male was being treated at Garnet Medical Center in Harris for a gunshot wound to his right foot that had also occurred during the disturbance. Both victims declined to cooperate in providing information in how their injuries had occurred.
