TOWN OF TUSTEN, NY — A third and final public meeting for the Town of Tusten Natural Resources Inventory, Open Space and Recreation Plan is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the town hall.
The natural resource inventory will identify key environmental and open space resources within the town, including wetlands, wildlife habitats, flood zones, forests and more. The open space and recreation plan will identify priorities for protection and create a foundation for future implementation of conservation projects.
The final public meeting will include a presentation of the draft open space and recreation plan by the MJ Engineering and Land Surveying, P.C., the town’s consultant team. Following the presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the recommendations and priorities through a series of interactive boards. A kids’ table will also be available. Town staff and conservation advisory council members will be on hand to answer questions. The information gathered from this activity will help to inform the final plan. All community members are encouraged to participate.
“Participation will ensure that this document accurately reflects our community’s views on ournatural resources and open spaces,” said Jane Luchsinger, Tusten deputy supervisor and conservation advisory council chair.
Public engagement is a key component of the project and fundamental to the implementation and success of the plan. To date, the project has included two public workshops, a community survey and a series of stakeholder group meetings to gather feedback from the community.
This project is supported with funding provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund 2023 and the Upper Delaware Council.
