MONTICELLO — On January 30, 2026, at approximately 12:55 a.m., State Troopers from the Wurtsboro Barracks observed a 2019 Toyota traveling southbound on Forestburgh Road in the village of Monticello in violation of multiple New York State Vehicle and Traffic Laws.
Troopers initiated a traffic stop and interviewed the driver, identified as Deric D. Young, age 46, of Monticello, NY, and the passenger, Daquann D. Staten, age 24, of Loch Sheldrake, NY.
During the investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted, which resulted in the discovery of the following:
A search of Staten’s person revealed approximately 10.3 grams of a white powdery substance.
Further investigation determined that Young was impaired by drugs. Both Young and Staten were placed under arrest and transported to the State Police Wurtsboro Barracks for processing without incident.
Daquann D. Staten was charged with:
Staten was arraigned in the Monticello Village Court.
Deric D. Young was charged with:
Young was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court on February 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
