HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (WMHA) presented a check for $175,000 to the Wayne Memorial Health System (WMHS) at a dinner on June 8 at Lukan’s Farm Resort in Hawley. The proceeds will benefit the system’s skilled nursing facility, Wayne Woodlands Manor, in Waymart.

The funds are raised through the auxiliary’s two thrift stores, the Other Shops One and Two in Honesdale and Hawley respectively; the Gift Box in the hospital lobby; and many annual events. These include uniform sales and a holiday bake sale as well as a spring gala, a concert and much more.

“I’m absolutely humbled,” said WMHS CEO James Pettinato, reflecting on how fundraising, including secondhand item sales, led to a $175,000 outcome. “When you think about the $5, the $2 shirt… I just can’t say thank you enough.”
