HONESDALE, PA — “Discover the Power of Nutrition” was this year’s theme for National Nutrition Month at Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) and across the country. During the month of March—and the other 11 months of the year—all are encouraged to learn how to make informed food choices, develop and maintain healthy eating habits, and incorporate physical activity into their routine.

It’s an important component of patient care at WMH. Nutrition manager Barbara Griggs-Pratt and her staff provide inpatient and outpatient nutrition counseling and education, community outreach and weight management classes.

As part of the month’s observance, a basket raffle was held, offering fun and healthy prizes in the hospital cafeteria.“People enter by testing their nutrition knowledge and will have multiple opportunities to win,” said Griggs-Pratt.

Nutrition has the power to help individuals and communities thrive. Your doctor can help you discover how food and beverage choices can help power your day. You can learn tips for adopting nutritious foods and build healthy habits into your day to help you feel great now and in the future.
