On Saturday, October 4, the riding lawnmower that my husband was operating inadvertently hit and got stuck on an embedded rock in the ground, which created a spark that ignited a fire in our field. The dry conditions caused the fire to spread very quickly.
A huge thank-you to the Yulan, Narrowsburg and Shohola fire departments for coming to our rescue so quickly. We were relieved by how soon they appeared on the scene, and impressed by how quickly and competently they put out the fire.
Their calm, caring demeanor throughout was a great reassurance to us. We feel tremendous gratitude to live in this community, which has such dedicated emergency volunteers, including EMS. They are your friends and neighbors, and are always there for you when you need them.
