Thank Bresnahan?

Posted

A previous letter writer suggested we should thank Congressman Bresnahan for our tax refund, which will expire in 2028. Mine was $11 (approximately two gallons of gas)!

Should we thank Congressman Bresnahan for voting for the Big Beautiful Bill (BBB), which guts Medicaid, Medicare and SNAP? These cuts will probably force our rural hospitals to cut services and possibly close and eliminate other safety nets and health programs that low and middle-income families count on to live. Many are Veterans and seniors who deserve better than to lose healthcare and supplemental assistance.

It is projected that millions will lose essential health care and food assistance. This is to give tax cuts to the top 10 percent. Congressman Bresnahan is one of those benefiting from this permanent tax cut.

The BBB made tips and overtime tax-free with certain limitations, but those will expire in 2028.

The tax cuts for the rich never expire. They are permanent. Is that fair? No.

So let’s thank our rich Congressman Bresnahan for crumbs while he takes advantage of the huge permanent tax cuts that he voted for. I’m sure he’s laughing all the way to the bank while we struggle to pay for gas and groceries!
