Dear Sheila, we stand with you. My distant relatives have found their last resting place in the hills and mountains of the Delaware River valley. Those hills are soaked with the blood of soldiers fighting for freedom and the right to democracy without overrule from dictators, like invaders such as the British and many others.

We have, as a country, moved on and learned the importance of embracing our global neighbors. However, the symbols of freedom last through the ages, bridges span more than waterways, they connect dissimilar yet very much similar folks who wish to stay engaged in the human condition of life without borders.

Imagine the same without bridges. Let not this bridge go noisily, then quietly, into the sweet night of history without a fight.
