SUNY Sullivan draws top number of new SUNY two-year students

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — In a time when college enrollment is declining, SUNY Sullivan is doing very well.
The two-year college has the largest year-over-year increase in new-student enrollments among all State University of New York community colleges.
SUNY Sullivan brought in 20 percent more new students, compared to an average 3.9 percent increase in enrollment across the community college network.
SUNY Chancellor John King Jr. presented the enrollment data during a special meeting of the SUNY Board of Trustees. (His presentation can be found at bit.ly/3R1NAax.)
“We are immensely proud of this achievement, which reflects our relentless pursuit of academic excellence and commitment to serving our community,” said Dr. Casey Crabill, SUNY Sullivan officer in charge.
The significant rise in new student enrollment highlights SUNY Sullivan’s approach to meet the evolving needs of students, including flexible learning options, robust academic programs and a supportive campus environment fostering a nurturing and inclusive community, a college spokesperson said.
The Sullivan Promise scholarship has played a critical role in making higher education more accessible and attainable for county students, ensuring that financial constraints don’t hinder their pursuit of academic success, the spokesperson added.
