The Sullivan County Democratic Committee held its convention on February 24, and is pleased to announce that it unanimously endorsed Kathleen Lara for the position of Sullivan County treasurer. 

“Her experience as deputy treasurer over the last 10 years has eminently qualified her for the position of Treasurer” said Sullivan County Democratic Chair Anne Hart. “She comes from a long line of public servants and, through her work as deputy treasurer, has demonstrated her deep commitment to public service,” Hart added. 

Kathleen Lara explained that “the role of Treasurer is one that demands expertise, attention to detail and a deep understanding of both the community and the law.” She is thrilled to run for this office, saying, “My guiding principle is simple: If it’s important to you, it’s important to me. Whether it’s a small question or a major concern, I believe that every taxpayer deserves clarity, transparency, and respect. It’s easy to forget that many people don’t fully understand the intricacies of property taxes. That’s why, if elected Treasurer, I will continue to maintain an office that is efficient, approachable and transparent—always focused on serving the people of this community.”
