Rep. Elise Stefanik recently announced her candidacy for New York governor in the 2026 election, running against Kathy Hochul. With county chair endorsements tallying over 72 percent of the weighted vote, Stefanik is now the presumptive Republican nominee.
Endorsements include: Rob Doherty, Sullivan County committee chair; Courtney Canfield Greene, Orange County committee chair; and Joshua Morgan, Delaware County committee chair.
Stefanik also secured the endorsement of state Sen. Peter Oberacker (R-51) and Assembly members Joseph Angelino (R-121) and Karl Brabenec (R-98).
She was also endorsed by Gov. George Pataki.
“I am incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of support all across New York,” Stefanik said. “After serving New York families for over a decade in Congress and helping to support Republican candidates up and down the ballot, we have the infrastructure and support to mount the most unified campaign for a Republican candidate to defeat Kathy Hochul to save our state.”
