SULLIVAN — The Sullivan County Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association today issued the following statement in response to the conviction secured at trial in the case involving the attempted murder of a police officer:
“We are deeply grateful to the Brian Conaty and the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office for its tireless work, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to justice in successfully securing a conviction in this case,” said a statement from the Union Executive Board. “This outcome reflects the dedication and skill of prosecutors who carefully prepared, presented the facts, and ensured accountability through the judicial process.”
The Union also expressed sincere appreciation for the work of the local law enforcement agencies involved, including The New York State Police and Village of Monticello Police, as well as the investigators, first responders, and support personnel, witnesses, and jury who contributed throughout the case.
“This conviction is the result of countless hours of investigative work, coordination, and perseverance by officers and detectives who refused to let violence against law enforcement go unanswered.” “From the earliest moments of response through the conclusion of trial, their commitment to public safety and to one another never wavered.”
The attempted murder of a police officer is an act of violence that strikes at the heart of community safety. The conviction sends a clear message that attacks on law enforcement officers will be thoroughly investigated and vigorously prosecuted.
“While this verdict cannot undo the harm caused, it represents an important step toward justice,” The Union said. “We also want to recognize the officer and his family for their courage and resilience throughout this process. Their strength is a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve and protect.”
The Sullivan County Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, the Union representing the members of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol Division, remains committed to supporting law enforcement personnel and ensuring that those who endanger the lives of officers—and members of our community—are held accountable.
