NORTHEASTERN PA — Sustainable Energy Education and Development Support (SEEDS) of Northeastern PA is seeking volunteers—and there are internship opportunities available to assist the organization with its Home Energy Efficiency Assessment Program.

Volunteers and interns will learn about home energy efficiency and will accompany adult volunteer supervisor/assessors on home energy assessments. They will also help nonprofit facilities improve energy efficiency and learn about renewable energy and sustainability initiatives in the area.  Training will be provided.

This program received a 2016 PA Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence.

Volunteers and student interns will be expected to arrange their own transportation to the SEEDS office at 32 Commercial St. in Honesdale, or to assessment sites in Northeast PA. SEEDS will work closely with volunteers to provide flexibility with schedules throughout the summer months.

Students will be expected to work approximately 20 hours per week. SEEDS can work around summer vacation schedules. Volunteers and interns might also be able to perform some of their responsibilities remotely.

The interns will be paid $15 per hour.

The 2025 program is being funded in part by the Ohio River Valley Participatory Fund through the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, and with financial assistance from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation through a grant funded by the Environmental Stewardship Fund.
