South Fallsburg man arrested following an investigation into a reported domestic dispute

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY —On August 3, 2026 officers from the Town of Fallsburg Police Department responded to a residence in South Fallsburg for domestic dispute involving a weapon. Upon arrival, a female victim alleged that the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Santos Cruz Vasquez, had appeared at the residence uninvited where he threatened her with a machete. Santos Cruz Vasquez had left the scene prior to police's arrival and a warrant was later issued for his arrest.

On August 22, 2026 Fallsburg Police responded to a business in South Fallsburg for a report of an unwanted subject that was identified as Santos Cruz Vasquez. Santos Cruz Vasquez was then taken into police custody on the active arrest warrant and was charged with the misdemeanors of menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. Santos Cruz Vasquez is scheduled to appear in the Town of Fallsburg Justice Court at a later date. 

Criminal charges are merely allegations that a defendant has committed violations of the criminal law, and as such they are not evidence of guilt. All defendants have a presumption of innocence and are entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the burden of the State of New York to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
