SOUTH FALLSBURG — On April 18, 2026 Fallsburg Police responded to Main Street in South Fallsburg for a reported assault involving a machete.
Upon arrival, Fallsburg Police Officers made contact with two male victims who alleged that Milton Romero, age 40, had approached them with a machete. It was reported that Milton Romero had swung the machete at the victims, striking one of the victims in the face which caused him to sustain a laceration.
Following a police investigation, Milton Romero was taken into police custody and was charged with menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, both misdemeanors, as well as criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and assault in the second degree, both felonies.
Milton Romero was then arraigned in the Town of Fallsburg Justice Court by the Honorable Judge Kaminski and was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail. Mr. Romero is scheduled to appear in the Town of Fallsburg Justice Court at a later date.
Criminal charges are merely allegations that a defendant has committed violations of the criminal law, and as such they are not evidence of guilt. All defendants have a presumption of innocence and are entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the burden of the State of New York to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
