LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — On Sunday, October 4 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Adrienne Snobeck and Iris Gillingham will hold a workshop focusing on warm food, herbal bitters, teas, bread, root vegetables, soups and a healthy homemade bouillon recipe.
They’ll discuss seasonality and how to best utilize fresh farm food at home, and how to plan for later seasons through freezing, canning and fermentation. They will also explore what to eat at certain times of year for the highest nutritional value and how to make fall and winter vegetables exciting, they said.
The workshop will also touch on the economics of seasonal eating, and there will be someseasonal treats to enjoy.
The cost is a suggested donation of $20 (and there’s a sliding scale of 15-30).
Gael Roots Farm is located at 734 Cattail Road. Reserve a space at www.gaelrootsfarm.org/events/seasonal-eating-foodways.
