Paige Cognetti brings much needed integrity to the fight for PA08. Meet her, and you will discover a candidate with a proven record of working hard for her community, with warmth, compassion and sacrifice. It is sad to see that the attacks on her center not on her policies or her plans to ease the cost of living in NEPA for us all, but rather on her as a person.

She is in fact totally unlike the woman depicted in the paint-by-number letters to your paper from local MAGA enthusiasts and Turning Point members from our local university. Letters that make it clear their experience of the fair sex is limited, as they obviously find a strong and capable woman scary. Letters in which she is criticized for attributes that would be praised in any male candidate.  

It is touching that the Turning Point youngsters devote their free time to playing at grown-up politics and listening to ego-boosting influencers who offer the snake oil of easy solutions to complex problems. 

But there are no easy answers to the crisis of faith in democracy our country is currently facing, and none to be found in personal attacks. 

It can be heady stuff to feel you have been given the answers to the Universe and how it should be run. But it can also be embarrassing in later years to discover that one was following a false prophet and that real life is more complex than a meme.

Why not learn more about Paige? Understand that she is in this fight not for herself but for everyone struggling here in NEPA. Send her your suggestions and she will listen, because working together on solutions is hard, but much more rewarding in the long run.
