FERNDALE, NY — This month, PRASAD Children’s Dental Health Program (PRASAD CDHP) will recognize National Children’s Dental Health Month and its own long-standing efforts to improve access to dental care for children through its mobile dental clinic.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in five children ages 5 to 11 has untreated tooth decay, making dental pain one of the leading causes of missed school hours. Poor oral health affects children’s ability to learn, grow and thrive.
For more than 28 years, PRASAD CDHP has delivered comprehensive dental care directly to students in Sullivan County, through its state-of-the-art mobile dental clinic, providing exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, sealants, fluoride treatments and extractions.
Since its founding in 1998, PRASAD CDHP has served multiple generations of families, improving access to care for children who might face barriers such as transportation, time or cost.
“We’ve treated grandparents, their children and now their grandchildren—proof of the lasting impact accessible dental care has on families,” said Dr. M. Cecilia Escarra, executive director of PRASAD.
