TOWN OF DEERPARK — The New York State Police Child Abuse Unit in Orange County announces the arrest of Ronald Babcock, age 31, of the City of Port Jervis. The investigation began after the New York State Police received notification from the Deerpark Police Department regarding a Law Enforcement Referral containing allegations that an adult male had been engaging in telephonic sexual communications with a 14-year-old female.
Deerpark Police Department reported that they received minimal cooperation from the alleged victim’s parents, who failed to intervene and allowed the telephonic contact to continue. The department then filed a report with the New York State Central Registry, prompting a joint investigation by the Child Abuse Unit and Orange County Child Protective Services.
As a result of the investigation, the following charges were presented to, and subsequently indicted by, a grand jury:
• Two counts of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, Class C Felony
• Eight counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, Class E Felony
• Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Class A Misdemeanor
Following the indictment, a warrant was issued for Babcock’s arrest.
On Friday, November 14, 2025, the Child Abuse Unit in Orange County in conjunction with the City of Port Jervis Police Department, arrested Babcock on the indictment warrant. He was transported to State Police Greenville barracks for processing without incident.
Babcock was arraigned at the Orange County Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail with bail set at $35,000, bond set at $250,000, and a partially secured bond set at $300,000. He is scheduled to appear in Orange County Court on November 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
