Pike correctional officer arrested for dealing drugs inside prison

MILFORD, PA— Michael T. Spensieri, 39, a Pike County correctional officer, was arrested on December 15 for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to the Pennsylvania State Police at Dunmore.

A report from the Pennsylvania State Police at Blooming Grove says detectives observed Spensieri retrieve a box that the package had been placed in, at his direction, at the drop location. Investigators then followed Spensieri to the prison, where he was taken into custody after he got out of his car.

Investigators located contraband and currency concealed inside Spensieri’s vehicle.

“It is unfortunate that this was going on, especially in light of county officials are working hard to provide services to inmate to escape the temptation of drugs,” said District Attorney Ray Tonkin.

In 2023, several inmates were sentenced for the possession of fentanyl in the Pike County correctional facility after an inmate was transported to a hospital after an overdose at the prison.

Anyone with information related to these investigations should call the Pike County District Attorney’s Office at 570-296-3485 or PSP Troop R Vice at 570-963-3156.
