Bills are pending in PA (House Bill 1971) and NY (Senate Bill S8512) that will remove barriers to the adoption of plug-in solar. Plug-in solar systems are small systems consisting of one or two solar panels with inverters and a standard electrical plug.
They do not require professional installation; just put the panels in a sunny location and plug the system into a standard wall outlet. These systems can help people reduce their electric bills and protect themselves against rate increases.
The systems are widely used in Germany and, this year, Utah became the first state to pass legislation allowing their use.
If you live in PA or NY and would like to see plug-in solar come to your state, contact your state representatives. More information can be found at damascuscitizens.org.
