CALLICOON, NY — The Callicoon Branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library will host iguana expert Wendy Townsend on Friday, October 23 as part of its open mic/guest artist series.

Townsend will discuss her work, which includes essays in the Boston Globe, among other newspapers and magazines; conservation; and reptile monitoring in the region at 7 p.m. after the open mic session. At the open mic, creative writers aged 16 and up in all genres are invited to read an original poem or short prose piece in a three-minute time slot. Sign-ups for open mic begin at 5:45 p.m., with readings between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The Callicoon branch is located at 45 Lower Main St.
