HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Coroner announced on Tuesday, May 26 that a 23-year-old man, Sheldon Endriss, passed away following an early-morning structure fire. Two other adults were reportedly present at the time of the fire, but were able to escape from a second-floor window.
The fire took place at 211 7th Street, Honesdale. It was first reported to 911 at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26.
The Wayne County Coroner's office was dispatched to the scene at 3:09 a.m. Coroner Edward R. Howell and chief deputy Mark M. James responded to the scene.
Endriss was found inside the home, near a window, on the second floor of the single-family home. Howell pronounced him dead at the scene at 3:58 a.m.
This is an ongoing investigation. The cause and manner of death are pending investigation. An autopsy will be conducted later this week, according to the coroner's office.
