One arrested after pickup hits Honesdale's state police station

CHERRY RIDGE TOWNSHIP, PA — On Thursday, September 3, Wade Louis Rickard, 36, of Honesdale was arrested and charged after he allegedly drove into the Pennsylvania State Police Honesdale Station. 

At around 6:53 p.m. on September 3, according to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), a pickup truck was driven into the PSP Honesdale Station, located at 14 Collan Park. The collision damaged the station's entrance and communications room and disrupted telephone service. A police communications office working inside the room sustained minor injuries. 

The operator of the pickup truck fled on foot and was found a short time later along Ski Run Road, where he was arrested by members of the PSP and the Honesdale Borough Police Department. 

Rickard was charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault. He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital then transported to Wayne County Prison for arraignment.
