LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY -— New Hope Community recently celebrated both Earth Day and Arbor Day with two meaningful tree-planting events.
In honor of Earth Day, members of the Kiwanis Aktion Club—an inclusive service organization that empowers adults with disabilities through community involvement, leadership development and volunteerism—donated and planted a tree on campus. The event provided participants with an opportunity to actively contribute to environmental stewardship while supporting their community.
The Girl Scouts of the United States of America Troop 709 marked Arbor Day by donating and planting an additional tree. The troop selected this initiative as part of the girls’ ongoing commitment to community service, “aligning their efforts with badge requirements and the broader goals of the Girl Scout Tree Promise, which encourages environmental responsibility and conservation,” New Hope said.
Both trees were planted along the perimeter of Andrew’s Garden, a sensory garden located on New Hope Community’s campus. “Designed to engage all five senses, Andrew’s Garden offers a peaceful and restorative environment for people of all abilities. Its inclusive design ensures accessibility for those who experience the world differently, creating a welcoming space for reflection, relaxation and connection with nature.”
