HONESDALE, PA — This October, Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) celebrated National Physical Therapy Month, highlighting the many benefits of physical therapy and to recognize the impact physical therapists (PT) and physical therapist assistants (PTA) have on the quality of life for so many in our communities, the hospital said.
This year’s theme is “PT for Future Me,” and is focused on proactive physical well-being.
“Physical therapy helps you move better today, stay active for tomorrow and supports your goals for lifelong health and resilience.”
“Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing a chronic condition, improving mobility, or simply investing in long-term health and independence, physical therapy supports your every step,” the hospital said.
Physical therapists work with patients to help manage pain, maximize mobility, possibly reduce the need for prescription drugs or surgery and recover as much functionality as possible after an injury.
“We have a great close group on our staff, like a family setting, and that has a positive influence on our patients,” Brandon Stone, physical therapy supervisor said.
“PT for Future Me” “supports physical therapy for people of every age, stage and ability, not just after injury or illness,” the hospital continued.
Options at WMH include the Outpatient Center at the Route 6 Mall, 650 Old Willow Ave., and the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at the hospital on Park Street. Both locations are in Honesdale.
