Mt. Rushmore or Mt. Disgraceful?

Posted

Recently I saw a picture of Trump and Melania standing in front of Mt. Rushmore. It made me realize how absurd it really was. I wonder how many Americans could identify the four images preserved in the stone. (Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt.)

These men were far from perfect; however, their contributions to America far outweigh their shortcomings. That is why they are there.

Wouldn’t it be great to create a Mt. Disgraceful with images of Americans whose actions created fear, distrust, dishonesty, instability and corruption, and shortcomings they are known for? (Because most people aren’t all bad, I’ll give them some slack around the holidays.)

The first name on Mt. Disgraceful would be Benedict Arnold, second would be Sen. Joseph McCarthy, next Richard Nixon and finally Donald Trump. What do these characters have in common, you may ask? They all ended up doing their best to undermine the foundations that made America the beacon of the world.

So that I may make my point directly, a name drop is necessary. Roy Cohn, who had a book written about him, was a disbarred lawyer who was the Trump family fixer. His professional and personal strategy was to never pay bills, be taken to court, sue and settle. It amounted to delay, delay, delay and never pay or settle. Sound familiar?
