MONTICELLO, NY — At 2 a.m. the morning of Thursday, September 3, members of the Village of Monticello Police responded to a reported Burglary in progress at the Pine Knoll Bungalow colony located at 198 Forestburgh Road.

A resident reported seeing 2 individuals on video surveillance entering a building. Responding officers found that the building that had been burglarized was the colony ‘SHUL” and further observed the 2 individuals were still walking around on the grounds.

Officers verbally ordered the individuals to stop and when they refused to comply, a foot pursuit then ensued. One of the individuals attempted to hide under a portion of a building but was located and arrested. A search with the assistance of the NYSP, Sullivan County Sheriff Office and a K-9 UNIT for the other fleeing suspect was negative.

Arrested and charged with the felony of Burglary in the 3rd degree was Adalis Rodriguez-Valentin, age 33 of Monticello. She was additionally charged with a separate count of Burglary in the 3rd degree after officers determined thru video surveillance that she had also participated in a burglary on Tuesday September 1, 2026 of another Shul located at 70 Wood Avenue in the Village of Monticello.

Rodriguez-Valentin was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court and in accordance with NYS bail reform guidelines was released on her own recognizance pending further court action. An investigation is continuing to identify and arrest the other individual involved.
