MONTICELLO — On Tuesday February 10, 2026 at 7:30 A.M. Village of Monticello Police were alerted by the Village of Liberty Police of information being received that an adult female was being held against her will and sexually assaulted at a residence located in the Village of Monticello.
An investigation by Village of Monticello Police in conjunction with the Village of Liberty Police Department and assistance from the Sullivan County District Attorney Office, resulted in the arrest of James Delbert Caston, age 54, of Monticello.
Caston was charged with the following felonies:
The victim was transported to the hospital and provided medical treatment for injuries sustained during the assault.
Caston was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court before Judge Douglas Solomon and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $150,000 cash bail, $300,000 bail bond and $600,000 partially secured bond pending further court action.
The filing of an accusatory instrument is merely an accusation and every person arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
