MONTICELLO - On Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10:00 P.M., the Village of Monticello Police responded to a 911 report of a male who had been “slashed” to the face in the parking lot of the Stewarts convenience store located on Forestburgh Road. The 38-year-old male victim reported to responding officers that while he was putting air in his vehicle's tires, he was approached by another male The male was identified as Miguel A. Jimenez, age 29, of Monticello.
Jimenez slashed the victim's face with a pocket knife and then proceeded to also puncture the tires and break the windshield of the victim’s vehicle. Jimenez fled before officers arrived on the scene. The victim was treated for his injury at Garnet Health Medical Center in Harris.
Jimenez was arrested at 10:00 A.M. on December 18 and charged with the felonies of Assault in the 2nd degree and Criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree. Jimenez was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court before Associate Justice David Maho. Jimenez was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $40,000.00 cash bail, $80,000.00 bail bond, or $150,000.00 partially secured bond pending further court action. Additional felony charges are pending against Jimenez for the damage sustained to the victim’s vehicle.
The filing of an accusatory instrument is merely an accusation and every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
