MONTICELLO — On Friday morning, October 3, 2025, Deputies from the Sheriff’s Gang Intelligence and Narcotics Unit attempted to execute a search warrant at 32 St. John Street, Apartment #2, in the Village of Monticello. At the scene, deputies observed Deon W. Morgan, age 40, leaving the residence. When deputies tried to stop the subject, a brief vehicle pursuit ensued. Morgan was eventually stopped and taken into custody without further incident. Following the execution of the warrant, Deon Morgan was charged with the following: Felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell, Tampering with Physical Evidence, the misdemeanor of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Fleeing, Reckless Driving, as well as Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
Deon Morgan was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Court by Judge Doug Solomon and due to New York State’s bail reform law, he was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
The Sheriff’s Gang Intelligence and Narcotics Unit was assisted in this 3-month investigation by Sheriff’s K-9 “Country”, the Monticello Police, and Homeland Security Investigations. The search warrant was prepared by Assistant Sullivan County District Attorney Tom Raleigh.
