MONTICELLO — A Monticello man is under arrest after a 5 month investigation into fentanyl sales in the Monticello area.
On Tuesday September 30, 2025 at about 5:00 pm, Members of the Sheriff’s Gang Intelligence and Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant in room 120 at the Lux Motel on Jefferson Street in the Village of Monticello. At the location Detectives found a quantity of Heroin/Fentanyl, Crack/Cocaine, Plastic Knuckles and approximately $7000 in US currency.
Alatunjae Roy a/k/a “Black”, age 54, was charged with several counts of Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Sell. The suspect was additionally charged with Misdemeanor Possession of a weapon and Criminal use of Drug Paraphernalia.
Also charged with Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance was was Nicolle Burns, 38, of Monticello.
Alatunjae Roy was arraigned before Town of Thompson Judge Sharon Jankiewicz and due to New York State’s bail reform law, released on his own recognizance pending a future appearance in the Village of Monticello court. Nicolle Burns was issued an appearance ticket.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Village of Monticello Police, Town of Fallsburg Police, Homeland Security Investigations and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program (HIDTA). The Search warrant was prepared by Sullivan County Assistant District Attorney Tom Raleigh.
