Monticello man arrested for burglary of commercial business on Broadway

MONTICELLO, NY — Members of the Village of Monticello Police Department arrested Skyler J. Madura, age 32, of Monticello on Tuesday September 15th, 2026. Madura was charged with the felonies of Burglary in the 3rd degree, Criminal mischief in the 2nd degree and a misdemeanor of Petit larceny.

On Friday September 11 at 12:50 A.M. Monticello Policer Officer Darek Tyminski, while on patrol, discovered a burglary had occurred, after finding the glass front door broken at the Memito’s Tacos and Deli located at 493 Broadway. Video surveillance showed a male breaking the door with a hatchet, then crawling inside and stealing approximately $100.00 in US currency and also a religious statue from the counter.

On Tuesday September 15th at 11:55 P.M. while on patrol, PO Tyminski observed Madura behind another business on Broadway and immediately recognized him as the suspect involved in the burglary. Madura was then arrested without incident.

In accordance with NYS Bail reform guidelines, Madura was issued an appearance ticket to return on October 5th, 2026 in the Village of Monticello Justice Court.
The filing of an accusatory instrument is merely an accusation and every person arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
