I welcome Republican Terry Bernardo to the race for State Senate District 51 and look forward to debating the issues with her. 

For those unfamiliar, Ms. Bernardo is perhaps best known to folks in the district for her failed tenure as chair of the Ulster County Legislature. This led to a resounding rejection of the Republican Party in Ulster and paved the way for Democratic majorities in county government to clean up the messes that she left behind when she abandoned the county after being caught misleading the IDA about her family business in order to cheat county residents out of revenue.

Sullivan County, where she is a current legislator, has also experienced her lack of efficacy. She has served there while the county suffers under a poverty rate of over 18 percent, well above the national and state averages.
