ONLINE — Antlers and Academics, a new webinar series from Penn State Extension, will focus on deer herd management and monitoring. It is designed for hunters and anyone interested in learning about white-tailed deer.

Proper wildlife management requires far more than planting food plots; it involves thoughtful forest stewardship, invasive species control, ecological insight and understanding herd dynamics, according to organizers.

The following webinars are scheduled:

“Trail Cameras” will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. This session explores how advances in trail camera technology can support informed decision-making, offering guidance on camera types, key features and real-world experiences from forest landowners who use these tools to monitor wildlife and address management challenges.

“Deer Management Programs” will be offered on July 15 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Pennsylvania Game Commission Lt. Brian Singer will review key policies, procedures and opportunities within several programs that support agricultural damage management, including the Deer Management Assistance Program, the Agricultural Deer Management Assistance Program and the Agricultural Damage Depredation Permit.

The registration fee for “Trail Cameras” is $15, and there is no charge for the July webinar. Participants must register in advance of each event. Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar.

A link to the recorded webinar will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days after the live event. The recording will be accessible for six months from the event date.
