MONTICELLO—Village of Monticello Police arrested Tyjhe Daeshawn Hargrove, age 26, of Brooklyn on Friday, January 10, 2025. Hargrove was arrested as a result of an investigation into the robbery and assault of a 71-year-old Monticello man. Hargrove was charged with the felonies of robbery in the 2nd degree and assault in the 2nd degree.
On July 3, 2024 at 11:30 p.m., while inside the Quality Gas and Convenience store located at 5 Jefferson Street in the Village of Monticello, Hargrove did intentionally strike the victim in the face with a closed fist. Hargrove then stole a $100 bill from the victim's hand while he lay on the floor of the store. The victim was subsequently transported by Ambulance to the hospital and treated for a fractured jaw. Investigating officers were subsequently able to identify Hargrove through video surveillance footage from the store.
Hargrove was arrested on Friday evening when officers responded to a report of unwanted persons behind 440 Broadway. Responding officers recognized Hargrove as the suspect in the July 3, 2024 robbery and he was arrested without incident.
Hargrove was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court before Village of Monticello Justice Douglas Solomon and was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $30,000 cash bail, $70,000 bond and $150,000 partially secured bond pending further court action.
