NARROWSBURG, NY — Charlie Hoffman, an educator, commercial drone pilot and OSHA safety officer, has been appointed to the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Safety Team as a representative, supporting the “Safer Skies Through Education” initiative.
With decades of teaching experience as a science department chair and a Part 107-certified drone pilot since 2017, Hoffman brings knowledge to aviation safety education. In his new role, he will collaborate with the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Safety Team to promote best practices in flight safety, focusing on unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and general aviation operations.
Hoffman’s appointment reflects his commitment to education and safety, both in the classroom and in the skies. As a commercial drone photographer specializing in real estate, advertising, and portrait photography, he understands the critical importance of responsible flight operations. His efforts will include community outreach, safety seminars, and collaboration with pilots to enhance awareness and compliance with FAA regulations.
"I'm honored to serve as a FAA’s Safety Team Representative," Hoffman said. "My goal is to help pilots—both manned and unmanned—fly smarter and safer through education and awareness."
Through this role, Hoffman aims to bridge the gap between traditional aviation and emerging drone technologies, ensuring a safer and more informed flying community.
